Nafion tubing is a highly selective, water vapor-permeable membrane. Moisture flows under the concentration gradient across the membrane thus resulting in the drying or humidifying of the sample stream depending on the moisture content of the donor and acceptor stream. Nafion uses sulfur ions to selectively transport water across the membrane, as the membrane is not gas permeable.
